At the end of their best season to date, Valeriano Allés finished as runners-up in the Women's Volleyball Superleague.

The Ciutadella team met Jamper Aguere in the final of the play-off for the title and won the first leg in the best-of-five series, before losing the next three games, the last at home on Sunday 1-3, to their rivals who have now been crowned champions.

ViveMenorca win first two games in play-off

Menorca's top basketball team had a good start in their Adecco LEB Oro quarter final play-off against Leche Río Breogán on Friday, beating their opponents 72-58. Their second game on home ground on Sunday gave them another victory when they won by a close margin, 63-61. They will now travel to their opponent's home for the next two games, the play-offs being the best of five games.

The two victories take the Menorcan team a little closer to promotion and a return to Spain's top basketball league, the ACB.

Menorca Men's Golf Championship

This weekend Son Parc Golf Course will be the setting for the XXIV Menorca Men's Championship and the VII Menorca Senior Championship, events which, to date, have attracted 70 entrants from Menorca, Mallorca, Madrid, Barcelona, Germany and Britain.

The former competition will be in Medal format with three handicap categories and one scratch. For the over-55's there will be one handicap prize and one scratch, with additional prizes for the longest drive and nearest the hole.

The May Golf Week will continue with an Individual Medal competition next Tuesday, a 4 Ball Better Ball for pairs on 12th and conclude with the Ronnie Bremner Stableford on 13th.

Junior golfers play in their own competition

Last weekend saw the junior golfers playing at Son Parc.

Tobias van der Graaf won over 18 holes with a nett 62, followed by Isabel van der Graaf (64) and Lluis Albert Arevalo (66). Sean Connor Farndon won the 9 holes with a nett 46, second was Elliott Brookfield (50) and third Ferran Sanchez Llado (62).

Menorca Cricket Club to host Balearic Cup

The Menorca Cricket Club ground at Biniparrell will be the scene for this year's Balearic Cup with teams from the archipelago's three largest islands competing for the title. Although Menorca has won the championship the most times the cup has not come to the island since 2003.

The first match, Mallorca v Ibiza, will be played on Friday 7th, with the local team taking on Ibiza on Saturday and Mallorca on Sunday. All matches start at 1230 hrs. and spectators are more than welcome at the attractive ground which also has bar facilities.
