Fred Olsen Line's 218 metre long cruise ship "Balmoral" visited Maó just an hour after the closure order on the port, due to high winds, was lifted.

The cruise had been affected by strike action in Marseilles. The ship was delayed on departure by the need to transfer a passenger to hospital. In 2008 the ship was enlarged by 30 metres in a Hamburg shipyard.
