Es Bastió Cultural Association, in collaboration with the Island Council and Maó Council, proposes to organise "M-Sona", the first festival dedicated to Menorcan Music. The event will be held in four different locations in Maó on 14th, 15th and 16th May.
Among the acts included in the programme are the groups Trio Arrels, Pinyeta Pinyol, Grup Els Cantaires, S'Nsmbl Quartet, Forum, Joana Pons, Xalandrí and S'Albaida, the latter will be presenting their new record.
On Sunday 16th there will also be folk dancing with the Grup Folklóric Ciutadella and the Sant Lluís Escola de Ball.
In total there will be 14 groups taking part in this new event which is designed to bring Menorcan music to the younger generation and also to establish links between associations which are working to spread the island's popular culture.
Although still to be confirmed, the association plans to stage the acts in the Plazas de la Conquesta, Colón, Reial and del Carme. Should the festival prove a success, it could become an annual or biannual event.
