In an operation codenamed "Operación Baile", the Judicial Police Force in Maó has broken up one of the main points of sale for cocaine in Ciutadella with the arrest of seven people on drug trafficking charges.
Searches of seven homes in the district uncovered varying quantities of cocaine, hashish, marijuana and ecstasy, together with material for the distribution of the drugs, two vehicles, mobile phones and computers and around 9,000 euros in cash.
The police investigation started over a year ago when they became aware that the person in charge of a well-known singles club was using the premises to sell cocaine.
After a long and intense investigation the police were able to identify the supplier of drugs to the club and to other people who then resold them.
The seven people arrested are all residents of Ciutadella. The police also discovered that one of those detained had a close relationship with one of the main characters involved in "Operation Boxer" during which the same police force uncovered more than 3.6 kgs. of cocaine.
The investigation continues.
