Around one hundred people attended the official inauguration of ABC Menorca at the Bodegas Binifadet in Sant Lluís last Friday evening, including many politicians and local businessmen.

The President of the association, Colin Guanaria, explained that the objectives behind ABC Menorca were to promote, develop and defend the interests of companies on the island run by the British or whose clients are mainly English-speaking and to encourage integration and co-operation with the authorities to the benefit of Menorca. Vice President Jake Burdess pointed out that "the English community can help the Menorcan lot as it understands foreigners' philosophy".

Some thirty companies have already joined the association which was formed last June and which has already started to work on promoting the island in the U.K., proof of which was to be found in two yachting magazines, Motor Boat & Yachting and Practical Boat Owner, which were presented at the prestigious London Boat Show in mid January. Both issues carried extensive articles, including several colour photographs, singing the praises of Menorca as an island paradise for sailors, thanks to the efforts of Menorquin Yachts, Autos Victoria, Bonnin Sanso, Marina Menorca and Marine Power.
