Victory for Valeriano Allés in Tenerife
The Ciutadella volleyball players' trip to the Canary Islands gave them an important victory and moved them into second place in the Spanish Superleague, the final score reading Tenerife Marichal 2: Valeriano Allés 3. With 27 points, the Menorcan team are now only one point behind the league leaders, C.V. Albacete.
On Saturday, Valeriano Allés face Haro Rioja Voley, currently ninth in the table, in a home game starting at 1900 hrs.

Narrow home defeat for ViveMenorca
During the week, a new player arrived on the island's basketball scene - Frederic Weis, who parted from his former club, Iurbentia Bilbao, last month. The 31-year old 7 ft. 2in. (2.18 metres) Frenchman, who has been a professional basketball player since 1995 and played in his national team between 1999 and 2007, made his debut for ViveMenorca in front of a home crowd on Sunday.
Nevertheless, the only Balearic basketball team in the ACB suffered a narrow defeat against Kalise Gran Canaria, the scores at the end of the encounter in Bintaufa reading 64:67.
The Menorcan team remain in 16th place, still in the relegation zone, but may be able to improve their position on Saturday when they travel to the mainland to meet CAI Zaragoza, currently in 15th place.
