Juan Estrada, the Ecuadorian businessman who was held at gun point whilst thieves robbed his home, claims that he was sitting at the kitchen table sorting the money out to pay various bills when he heard voices outside. On opening the door, a hooded man armed with a pistol burst in, followed by a woman who was also hooded, and told him "Today you are going to die". The 50-year old construction company owner was tied to a muscle-building apparatus in his lounge whilst the thieves put the money, 92,000 euros according to Estrada, in a bag. Ten minutes later they left the house, joining a man who told them to "Hurry up" in Spanish with a foreign accent. Estrada describes the two hooded thieves as Spanish-speaking, but with accents that were not South American, Andalucian nor Menorcan, and as having been "surprised" when they saw the bundles of money on the table.
